K1200R 2008

The apple-green metallic colour you see here is one of the new ‘features’ of the 2008 BMW K1200R. But of course, that’s not all – Automatic Stability Control (ASC) will now be available as an option on both the K1200R and the K1200S. These bikes, along with all the F- and R-series machines, will also get a new multi-function digital instrument panel, and optional ABS.

Project Acrimony

have been very lazy lately updating details on all my project, after Superbeasto and now that I totally engulfed with the Kuwait to Beirut Trip, I have neglected my parallel ongoing project Acrimony, So while I was out picking a friend, I experimented with my new found mobile replacement for the veteran E61, well its none other than the E61i, which actually managed to take some OK pictures, before we headed out on our afternoon cruise, Enjoy my pride and joy.

Tristar Auction Night

Yesterday a couple of buddies and myself went down to Shuwaikh to attend a Tristar Auction, there were several item on display, consisting mainly from helmets and jackets. it was a nice gathering and we got to meet some new people. Tristar is really making a great effort to build a motorcycle community in Kuwait. After the auction Tristar has arranged for a ride for the avid auction participants south. Great initiative !!

Honda CB1100R its alive!!!

The 80's favorite machine is back and what a stylish comeback, here are the first real life shots of the Honda CB1100R. This baby is total hotness. It's pure red, white, and blue glory without the 30 lbs of plastic covering up all the pretty parts. Cant wait to see the technical specs on this Hottie.

Suzuki Crosscage Hybrid Engine

scheduled for an appearance at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show, may be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, or high pressure air, possibly fuzzy kitten dreams - who knows. Details are light, but it does have a monoshock up front though, and that's pretty radical. Somehow the magicians at Suzuki managed to cram an entire fuel cell system into the skeletal frame of the Suzuki Crosscage. It is a bit on the awkward-looking side. But it's the tech rather than the looks that are the main feature here.

Suzuki Biplane at the Tokyo Motor Show

Wow. Just wow!! The Tokyo Auto Show is bringing us some wicked concepts, including this Suzuki Biplane motorcycle. Inspired by the classic biplane first introduced by the Wright Brothers, we're a bit confused exactly where the twin stacked wings fit within this redesign, but who knows, maybe Suzuki has made motorcycles fly. Not to mention, there's about a 50/50 chance that you could instantly turn into a super hero when sitting on this bike...which counts for something.

Thanks Stallion..

11 Things they did not teach you at school!

Bill Gates recently gave a speech to High School students about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished fail in grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to Nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one!

Aramex Price Hike!

I have received an email from Aramex stating the following and I quote "We take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support over the years & for allowing ARAMEX to serve your shopping & shipping needs.

Our goal at SHOP&SHIP is to provide the highest level of quality & customer service while offering the best shipping options available.

Unfortunately, our operating costs continue to experience rises due to substantial increases in fuel & airline shipping costs. These increases have resulted in a necessary increase in our shipping prices.

Effective Nov 1, 2007, our SHOP&SHIP prices will change to the following;

First ½ Kg 2.500 KD
Each additional ½ Kg 2.000 KD

It pays to be a monopoly, I wonder if other countries got the same message.

Welcome to BMW airways, NOT! Planning has started for the big road trip, destinations are mapped the objective is to have FUN for 20 days, 8 bikes crossing 4 countries, KSA - Jordan - Syria and finally Lebanon. We are planning to cover 6,000km over a period of 3 weeks out of which 3,600km of point to point driving and an additional 1,400km of cruising. So many things to take care of Leave Request, Visas, Bike, Luggage, Riding Gear etc. Beeing the only Euro-Lebanese on the team I have started the visa process to Jordan in order to get the Saudi, we will be crossing over from Salmi. I am crossing my fingers to finalise in the coming 2 weeks.

Destination Lebanon!

Now that Superbeasto is out of the way, the second challenge is around the corner. Don''t be fooled by the title, anyone can jump on a plane and head to Beirut. However not many are gonna jump on a bike and cover a 5000km journey, through Saudi, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. For this challenge I had to choose the right vehicle, my harley is out of contention, although its a touring equipped with saddlebags, it is not designed for twisties and bad road conditions. My choice fell on the venerable BMW R1150GS - 2001. I have already owned the 2006 BMW R1200 Adventure, I loved the engine, unfortunately my butt was not compatible with the seat, which left me in a love and hate dilema. I will start posting about the preparation for this trip in my coming blogs.

Superbeasto the Final Cut

It is alive, 4 month and a half of hard work and 3500$ later, I am proud of my new creation. Introducing the all new revamped 2000 Nightrain. Boasting a 200 rear Dunlop tire on 17" rims, Front 21" on Avon, 1550 engine, 211 cams, 4 degrees advance gear, modified 40 mm CV, Tailgunner Rotary exhaust, 2-1 V&H header, Lepera seat, Silk Matt Black with Gold Flakes. The bike is an attraction on the street, and anywhere it parks, everyone wants to see the rotary exhaust in action and boy these pipes are loud, always mixed feelings about the color scheme and since this my wifes bike she picked her own tank emblems a I Heart HD with swarovski (fake) stones.

5th Gear - Fireblade vs Civic Type R

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera vs Ducati 1098

Goes to show that 300,000$ does not give you an advantage over a 30K bike, off course it helps to know how to drive.
