It took me one hour to get from to the airport, all major roads were closed due to the Economical Arab Summit. unfortunately there were no detour signs marking alternative routes to the airport although, Al Watan Daily published yesterday that roads will be closed from 15:00 to 21:00. I headed to the airport at 14:00 to discover the roads were already closed. After a long detour, I ended up in Juleib next to the cargo terminal. I checked in at 15:00 sharp and waited for my flight to board at 16:15. No calls mentioning my flight on the PA by 14:30, I checked the screen and discovered the flight was canceled. I quickly headed to the Jazeera counter and did not conceal my frustration regarding the situation. The explanation I got that, was that none of the passenger made it. After fussing for 15 minutes, they promised to correct he situation. The best they could come up with was a flight at 19:30 and they would give 3 seat for my comfort. I turned down the offer, the officer in charge was courteous and promised an upgrade. 10 minutes later they called me up to pick up a Jazeera Plus ticket with Pearl Lunge access, the least they could do given the wait I will have to endure. nevertheless I would like to commend Al Jazeera for their professional approach and swift resolution and believe me, it does pay to complain.

In July 2004, Barack Obama took delivery of this 2005 Chrysler 300c from Park Plaza Dodge in Forest Park, Illinois. In 2007, Obama swapped his Chrysler sedan for a Ford Escape Hybrid at Hawk Ford in Oak Lawn, IL. Hawk Ford then transfered the 300C back to Park Plaza Dodge. Today, the Obamamobile 300 C Hemi showed up on eBay Current Bid US $116,101.99. I guess it a much better deal than famous half eaten waffle that went shortly on eBay and reached 20K, before removing it.

Enter the Varadero 2009 rumored to be powered by a V4 1200 cc with 120 HP on tap and tipping the scale at 220kg, I would rather have Honda beef up the V-twin to 1200 and introduce a shaft a la BMW, while keeping the weight. Whatever Honda decide, I will go with Varadero over any bike out there.

My last trip to Dibba was to attend the HOG Middleast event, I had to commute back and forth from Dubai totaling 800km in 3 days. The trip to Dibba and fourth in a car was quite dull, car travelling is dull and sensational, someone in a Porsche or a Ferrari might disagree, however dive me a motorcycle any time, 2 wheels rule! 4 wheels suck. Luckily I have done the trip to Oman – Khorfakan – Dibba - Dubai in 2005 and for this occasion I have unearthed some pictures from this trip.

Based in Barcelona, Spain, APC Systems have come out with an innovation that could well save some lives. The Spanish company has developed crash helmets that incorporate an airbag, increasing the level of crash protection for motorcyclists.
According to the company, a small, simple control box fitted on the motorcycle receives and processes data, which allows it to determine when a collision may be imminent. When this ‘black box’ figures out that the rider is about to crash, it relays a signal which inflates the crash helmet’s airbag in less than 15/100th of a second, increasing safety levels for the rider.
There are no cables or any other physical elements linking the rider to the bike – the black box works on its own, in a manner that’s completely unobtrusive. And when it inflates, the airbag provides protection to the rider’s neck and back, reducing the chances of severe injury. In the event of a crash, the airbag stabilizes the neck and protects the upper back, the benefits of which are obvious.
The APC helmet airbag is, apparently, only available in Spain right now, so we do hope it’ll also go on sale elsewhere in the world over the next few months.

Where the hell have I been? Guns N' Roses released their much anticipated album Chinese democracy after 17 years in the making. The album has already sparked and controversy and has been slammed by a Chinese state newspaper for "venomously attacking China".

Axl Rose, 46, is the only member of the band's original line-up to feature on the new album, he comes across with a deeper note, I am still downloading the album so no rating yet as of now, however the absence of Slash’s riffs is obvious, one of the major trademarks of GNR, some of the tracks are bit funky and not to my liking.

Dubai a personal view

Its been 10 years I have been travelling back and the forth to Dubai. It seems that the country has managed to over engineer itself to the point its gotten plain ugly and lost its identity in the process. I have nothing against progress and technology, however not to the extent that the city looks like Gotham City. A concrete jungle, with toll points and laser cameras with infrared community, I has an eerie feeling of Big Brother watching you or worse yet in Guantanamo Bay as CCD cameras are all over the place. In the past 3 days during my stay I enjoyed Dibba, but the day and a half in Dubai was a nightmare which made me think of Beirut traffic as paradise in comparison. Real Estate prices are beyond ridiculous and are already taking a tumble, talks of government budget deficits and a bid from Abu Dhabi to buy Dubai is on the table. Lots of companies are shutting down and moving to neighboring Bahrain and Egypt. The economical crunch is beginning to be felt as realtors are dropping prices, landlords are dropping rents, but no customers in sight.

Will this mean the end of construction and beginning of the financial destruction? Will Dubai end up a ghost town?

My Diet Week II

Upon my return from Dubai, I went to the nutritionist to check on my progress. OK I have to say, I had a couple of slips in my eating habits in Dubai, nothing major, more of a starvation issue as I had to drive over 740KM in 2 days. I have managed to drop 4kg in my first week, which I am extremely happy for. However you need to understand that this drop is attributed to the cleansing of the colon, which make up 50% of the lost weight, along side water waste from the outer cell. So effectively its 2 KG of FAT which doe not show. The next 3 weeks, I will be following 3 different diet plan, the last one is a detoxification program. Expected weight to be shed is about 7-10KG.

Review: The Strangers

I am getting bored watching movies, with weak plots that does not capture the imagination.

The film opens with the following narration: What you are about to see is inspired by true events. According to the F.B.I. there are an estimated 1.4 million violent crimes in America each year. After extensive research I discovered there was nothing related to any true events. The closest I could get to match the plot is the true crime committed in 1969 by none other then Charles Manson. After reading about Helter Skelter and saw the gruesome murder of Sharon Tate its obvious that the director was inspired by these events.

"The Strangers" is thoroughly unoriginal and predictable from start to finish, with some extended moments of genuine tension. The trailer was much better than the movie.

Destination Fujairah

Telephone rings, wass up? Not much, feeling better? I guess! Well get on a plane and come to Fujairah for the HOG Rally tomorrow, we are a having tons of fun. Accommodation is at the JAL Hotel, distance is 160km from Dubai, I will stay there till Sunday. Shame I don't have my Blitzy with me.

My Dieting Progress

Day 4 progress report, I can’t believe my eyes when I stepped onto the scale today. Quick recap went to see the dietitian on Friday, started my diet on Saturday. Starting weight was 112kg, I followed the diet to the letter and 4 days later I dropped to 108kg. that's 4kg in 4 days at a rate of 1 kg a day. 4 more days to go, at this rate i will see myself done to 104kg by the end of the week. This progress will put me 9 kg away from my ideal wait. I am really impressed.

Review: Saw V

Laying sick on my sofa with fever, I called upon my DVD provider to deliver a batch of new movies I was anticipating to watch. I have already reviewed: Swing Vote, Burn after Reading, Bangkok Dangerous, Traitor, still to go are Max Payne, Righteous Kill, Beverly Hill Chihuahua, The life before her eyes, Lake Terrace View and the Strangers. Enough about what am I going to watch this review is about Saw V.

In a nutshell Saw 5' is one of those films, that after watching it, you ask yourself ; "why did we see that?" What once was a an intriguing pleasure for me, has quickly turned into a tedious and quite boring and predictable series. The story yet again picks up from the fourth installment. Sure the traps are there so is the blood and the gore, but then again it is getting to be too cliché for my liking as yet again, Saw V paves the way to Saw VI is this a Freddy Crougar déjà vu? I guess Hollywood will keep tapping into Gigsaw till the fan interest is gone, which brings us to where I am at this moment. Saw V will live up to the fans expectation however if you did not see the fourth installment, you will not get much of the movie.

Review: Bangkok Dangerous

Nicholas Cage is my all time favorite actors. The movie is action-packed. I would not call it an action movie but rather l a thriller. Nicolas Cage is solid in this movie. There are mixed review of the movie, mainly negative compared to the original. I enjoyed the movie although not fast paced and somehow predictable, it still delivers an entertaining 90 minutes.

Hilarious black comedy, I loved Brad Pit dumb role, Frances McDormand, George Clooney and John Malkovich all deliver fantastically colourful, over-the-top performances.

CIA operative Osborne Cox refuses a demotion and quits his post much to the chagrin of his ice cold wife whose having an affair with Harry Pffarer a US Marshall and a sex addict. Cox decides to write his memoirs but has a disk of material lifted by his wife whose about to begin divorce proceedings against him. The disk is then lost at a gym where two brainless, body conscious employees hatch a bribery scheme against Cox. Matters are further complicated when Harry begins an affair with Linda Litsky, one of the extortionists. Before you know it the CIA and the Russians are involved.

A Highly recommended movie 4/5.

Does dieting work?

After speaking to Marzook and getting the details on the dietitian. I went for my first visit yesterday. After some casual conversation, we got to the weigh in, at 182cm and 112 KG my BMI was 34 which makes me Obese. Although in real life I am not that obese, I went along and got my program for the first week. Optimal weight, given my skeletal structure is 95kg, I know I was 90KG when I first came to Kuwait in 1999. That 22kg of Fat I need to shed.

Week One is cleansing week.

Lots of H2O about 2 liters a day and small meals target weight loss by the end of the first 7 days is 4-5kg. No exercise is allowed for this week. I doubt I will see a 5 kg drop more likely in the vicinity of 2-3kg.

Traitor is a movie that deals with the multifaceted aspects of terrorism and Islam. it focuses more on the personal relationships between the characters and deliver a deeper perspective about faith and how to embrace it to lead a better life. Overall, a great spy thriller. There's action but not too much that detracts from the focus of the story. Don Cheadle's performance was a cut above.

A solid 4/5 rating.

WTF!!! i just got it from the paint shop… Shut the phone down the stairs and there it was in a pool of fuel. Damage assessment was quick. He apologized and explained that his son just got his license. OK, so why park it in such a tight spot if he does not know how to drive? It’s OK I will cover the damages. Its not about the damages its about the down time, till I order and get the parts, take the tank off and paint, its a hassle. And I just finished painting it. How unlucky can we get this year, I will tell you in my next post.

Day started off with breakfast at Marina crescent with friends, followed by a trip to Tristar see previous blog post. Lunch at home, then out bike riding around 15:00. Khaleej Road was congested, too many cops and a couple of accidents, and way too many idiots on the road. After 90 minutes of riding, I decided to call it a day head home. My Buddy picked me up to take his bike to the dealership, sawalef with some old faces, then headed to the powder coating shop and picked up my rim for the Blitz Bomber. Home at 20:30, sat with the kids, then out by 21:00 for a long walk with some friends to end the day. Not bad for a saturday!

Here is the deal, I passed by Tristar to see their new set up and I was introduced to Mark who is running their MX department. I discovered that Mark trains kids and adults on MX riding on a closed circuit. Mark is South African and a motocross veteran, he has some excellent experience from the Paris-Dakar rally and is great with kids.

I asked the kids if they were up to it and it was a unanimous vote, yeah dad when do we start! My twin daughters are smitten with the motorcycle bug, since the age 4 they used to take a ride on daddy’s Harley. At 9 years old they are moving on to their own motorcycles, that's 6 years younger than their dad. Tristar service is great and the kids met Mark today, where they got to sit on the bikes and got their very own set of MX gloves. They will start off on an automatic 50cc KTM for 6 hours each, the cost for the training is 85KD per kids including the bikes. I am so excited to see the results, unfortunately neither Mum or Dad are allowed on the track for the first 4 hours, as we might add more confusion to the kids training.

I thought that was a joke, but they ain’t kidding in the land of the free.

LOS ANGELES — A federal judge in Los Angeles has barred the Mongols motorcycle gang from wearing or distributing its trademarked logo after authorities arrested dozens of its members in six states.

U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper granted an injunction requested by prosecutors Wednesday that prohibits gang members, their family members and associates from wearing, licensing, selling or distributing the logo.

Cooper on Tuesday initially limited the order to just selling or distributing the logo.

At least 61 members were arrested under a racketeering indictment that accuses some of murder, attempted murder and drug sales.

MOC Post Office Blues

I never knew that sending a package outside Kuwait would set me back 2 hours of wasted efforts. I headed this morning to the MOC office at the Sheraton round about to send a small package of parts back to my supplier to the US.Upon arrival I circled the building for 25 minutes trying got find a parking place, although there are parking spots available within the ministry compound, I was told that these are only for employees. WTF 25 cars and no customer parking. So I decided to go to the main office in Shuwaikh, parking was easy to find. Upon entering the `building, the clerk told me to my amazement, that this facility does not process packages and I should go back to Kuwait city. Rants… Traffic back again trying to find that elusive parking spot another 15 minutes and lady luck smiled. I parked and entered the building. There were 15 people inside the building all standing in a corner eating sweets and not even acknowledging my existence. A lady came to me after an excruciating 10 minutes, she asked how she could help. I showed her the package and explained the need to send it to the US registered. No problem you need to go home and cover it with white paper and write your return address. I started loosing it, I explained it took me an hour to find a parking place and no way she is sending me home again, can’t you fix it here? She consented and called Babu, I explained to him what needs to be done. Babu called his assistant and both worked on covering my box, took them 20 minutes. In the meantime I was looking around and noticed that all the employees disappeared. Facebook killer receives life sentence

A man who killed his wife over a posting made on Facebook has been jailed for life.

Wayne Forrester told police he felt "devastated" and "humiliated" when his wife changed her status to single a few days after she had kicked him out of their marital home.

Appearing before the Old Bailey, barristers explained how Forrester was drunk, and had been taking cocaine before driving back to their home in south London and attacking his wife, stabbing her to death with a kitchen knife. He believed his wife had been having an affair.

Forrester pleaded guilty to the crime, and will now serve a minimum of 14 years.

In a prepared statement, Forrester told the court: "Emma and I had just split up. She forced me out of the house and then posted messages on an internet website telling everyone she had left me and was looking to meet other men.

"I felt that I was watching somebody else attacking Emma. It was as though I had no control of what I was doing."

This prototype makes you think of a Respingo when you first see it. The monstrous 250 mm wheel is enough to make heads turn and bring you all the attention you ever wanted. An Aprilia Falco which was baptized as the hellâ€™s pig was the guinea pig to test and try solutions as the tyre proved to be a problem. The next step was to build a multi tubular chassis and they chose an Ohlins fork, Brembo brakes and a couple of other things. The result was a beefy, all American, aggressive motorcycle that sure kept everyone at the motor shows gasping for breath.

The frame and swingarm are made of 6061-T6 tubing and
CNC machined billet 6061.
The lower spars are 5 inch, the uppers 4 inch,
and the frame head is 6 inch.
Gasoline is held in the frame, with a capacity of

Mementoes from the Titanic put up for sale by the last remaining survivor to help pay for her nursing home fees have fetched over £30,000, auctioneers said.

Millvina Dean was forced to sell a 100-year-old suitcase filled with clothes which was given to her family by the people of New York when they arrived in America after being rescued.

The 96-year-old also auctioned rare prints of the fated cruise liner which have been signed by the artists along with compensation letters sent to her mother by the Titanic Relief Fund.

The suitcase today fetched £10,800, the prints £9,250 and the letters sold for £11,100. They went under the hammer at Henry Aldridge and Son auctioneers in Devizes, Wiltshire.

In total they made £31,150 - more than ten times the amount Miss Dean had said she hoped to raise

Not a Bad return on investment after all these years.

A 50-year-old woman and her 30-year-old son in Corning, California have been accused of barbecuing the remains of Ramona Allmond, their 84 year old mother/grandmother. The creepy, kooky and altogether ooky pair also allegedly cashed her social security and retirement checks after she died. More specifically, after they CREMATED HER ON A BARBECUE.
Although the cause of Ramona Yolanda Allmond's death may never be known, her daughter and grandson allegedly allowed her body to lie on the bedroom floor for a week until moving it to a concrete culvert behind their residence, Hosler said.
The culvert had been used by the family as a makeshift barbecue, he said, noting that the family had used it to cook their Thanksgiving turkey several weeks before Allmond's death.
It's not known if they used it after the alleged cremation.

Bikes, Beer and Booties. I got hold of Quentin Tarantino newest movie Hell Ride. The movie is typical of Tarantino, bunch of rival bikers the 666 and the Victors fighting it off in a gang war somewhere on route 66. The characters were great, Michael Madsen a regular in Tarantino movies, ever since reservoir dogs, David Carradine and Dennis Hopper. Unfortunately Hell Ride fails to deliver on many fronts, it is more of a 70 style B-Movie, I would have liked Tarantino to join forces with Rob Zombie on this one. Overall if you like Tarantino style of movies, you will like Hell Ride, just don't raise your expectations.

Kids at Marina (ranting)

Since the weather got better, I started riding on my motorcycle to Marina, either early morning or late afternoon. However this year it seems that the number of kids around Marina has quadrupled and to aggravate things, their guardians have no control. This episode happened last week, after a quick coffee at Starbucks in the late afternoon I returned to my bike to see a bunch of kids jumping on and off the bike, stepping on my exhaust, twisting the throttle and sitting on the tank. I was getting enraged with the sight of my beloved Blitzy getting fornicated by a bunch of imbeciles in public.So I shouted get off the Bike and the kids looked at me and ignored me, I went straight to them and lifted the kid of my seat and told him off. From behind me I hear Esh Da3wa Yuba, I turned around with daggers flying out of my eyes and told him eshh da3wa? if I find your car open the door and play with it, and while at it jump on the hood. He was taken aback by my answer, then I continued to lecture him. He probably thought I was stupid and this is only a piece of junk. Junk or no Junk, this is my private property so back off next time you see a bike parked. He disappeared uttering some words with no apologies whatsoever.

How the hell can you educate people around here and get them to understand that a motorcycle is not a public toy.

Jaguar "leaper" motorcycle

The bike is six feet long and cobbled together with parts from a 1,200cc Buell 97 S3 Thunderbolt that was bought off eBay. It can only reach speeds of 50 mph, but that makes it easier for bystanders to check out the meticulously sculpted fiberglass body that pay's tribute to Jaguar's official mascot. The finished product is a pretty spectacular piece of rolling art, so we think its dynamic shortcomings can be forgiven.
In my opinion its too fugly to look at and even worse to drive, I think its pointless.

RIM's shares have practically fallen off a cliff in recent months, plunging from a 52-week high of $150 to today's price of around $68.

With the credit crunch likely to slow corporate IT spending, RIM could become even more vulnerable if the financial crisis doesn't dissipate quickly.

That leaves the company vulnerable to a takeover from a cash-rich suitor such as Microsoft, according to analysts. "RIM is a massive strategic fit [for Microsoft]," claims Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek, in an interview with Reuters. "I'm fairly certain they have a standing offer to buy them at $50 [a share]."

Microsoft has around $23 billion of cash on its balance sheet, with RIM currently valued at around $34 billion. Such a move will position MS aggressively in the mobile space competing directly against Nokia, Sonu-Ericsson and Apple.

Today my wife and I decided to take a ride on the Harleys, big mistake, the temperature at 7:30am was on the rise and registered 38 degrees in my car. I thought it might get cooler when we rode, however I did not expect it to hit 42 degrees. I bumped into Marzook in Marina around 9:30, he was hastily heading for his KTM and heading home. After breakfast and meeting up with the rest of the gang, we headed for a quick ride on the Gulf direction free zone, my wife was dizzy riding, around 11:30 we had to stop for some water at Starbucks and decided to call it a day and headed home on the fourth. Damn this heat for how long do we have to suffer.

The bike will be available in the glossy black paintscheme you see here, with a range of accessories – tall windshield, luggage racks and various chrome-plated bits. Mechanically, the GT1000 Touring is no different from the regular GT1000, which will, of course, still be a part of the 2009 Ducati lineup. Naser Khader is a son of a Palestinian father and a Syrian mother. He was raised in a small rural town outside Damascus in a traditional Syrian way. وفي تفاصيل بلاغه بحسب دعواه، انه فوجئ بـ 11 شخصا على دراجات هارلي يقومون بمطاردته بعد ان قام بتجاوزهم اذ كانوا يغلقون الطريق امامه.

10 days of vacation at home has passed and I can't remember a single achievement I have undertaken during these days. Tomorrow its back to work which makes me wonder if I am fulfilling my destiny in life? This is my 10th year in Kuwait has the time come to make a move, I feel stuck in a groove or a limbo, same faces same hangout, same outings, same roads, nothing to explore. The family of a banking executive who was beaten to death after confronting a gang of men he had seen attacking a young couple said that he had paid the “ultimate price” for being a good citizen.

Frank McGarahan, 45, the chief operating officer of Barclays Wealth, who was in charge of assets worth £133 billion in 20 countries, had approached the men who had assaulted a homeless Lithuanian man and his girlfriend.

Police said that there was an “exchange of words” before the men launched an attack on Mr McGarahan. They knocked him to the ground and then continued to kick and punch him.

He was taken to hospital after paramedics tried to revive him but he died on Monday after the assault in the early hours of Sunday morning. Three men were arrested by officers who are investigating the killing.

Teenager survives after knife plunged five inches into skull

These X-ray images show how a 16-year-old boy narrowly escaped death when a 5in knife was plunged into his head during an attempted street robbery.

The teenager and two other young men were injured when they tried to stop a friend being robbed at a bus stop in Walworth, southeast London, in November last year.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was taken to hospital with the knife still in his head. After a delicate operation he has made a good recovery and has started college, although he still needs hospital checks. His attacker, a 17-year-old, who also cannot be named, was convicted of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm by Inner London Crown Court last week.

I have to say this is one amazing recovery, the more amazing part is how could the attacker manage to insert a knife in the skull.
